Academics are the foundation of Montverde Academy. Students have the opportunity to work with teachers in an innovative, college preparatory setting. With an average of 17:1 student-faculty ratio, classes are focused on cultivating critical thinking skills, challenging your student with new ideas, and encouraging them to do their best both inside and outside of the classroom. Our focus is on leading your child down the path that will bring them to their highest potential.

Advanced Placement® Courses

In the College Board’s Advanced Placement, or AP, courses at Montverde Academy, students are challenged while learning new skills in a variety of subjects. Upper School students benefit from 32 AP classes, more than any independent school in Central Florida. AP Courses are designed for students who are academically prepared and motivated to take on college-level courses, taught by MVA teachers who are specially trained through AP Workshops and Summer Institutes.

Classes are comparable to sophisticated college courses. Depending on the subject, students may read and write more, analyze material, synthesize ideas, solve problems, and evaluate arguments. In addition, MVA offers the AP Capstone program which, according to the College Board, “equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges.”
