Upper School Students Take Some Time to Relax and Enjoy Winterfest Before Exam Week

By Margaret Price

Upper School students enjoyed a pre-exam evening of fun with a hot cocoa bar with assorted toppings, cookie decorating, a holiday movie, s’mores, and a holiday hayride.

Several clubs set up displays highlighting other cultural holidays, including the Spanish Club, the Black Student Union, the Muslim Student Union (MSU), and the Chinese Club. The MSU display included Arabic writing: JazzakAllah Khairan, which means, “May God reward you with goodness.” They had students write down anyone they would like to send a blessing to.

The Chinese Club set up a tasting of traditional treats, including Shelly Rice Crackers, a very common snack in China that is similar to a sweet rice cake. Students were also able to taste spicy green beans, a very popular snack in China, essentially crispy green beans with wasabi.

This event was hosted by the sophomore class Student Government Association and the sophomore class advisors. The students also enjoyed somewhat of a holiday miracle with snow covering the ground from the snow machine. Many students, including the senior Prefects, were dressed in holiday costumes and attire.
