Summer Camp Fun at MVA
This year Montverde Academy was excited to welcome back a full slate of Summer Camp options. With the help of 28 volunteers, over 1,100 campers were able to experience fun on campus.
MVA’s General Summer Camp hosted over 700 young campers who participated in a variety of off-campus trips to the movies, the Plaster Cottage for ceramics and painting, bowling, and SkyZone. Our Day Campers also experienced on-campus events like Noah’s Landing Mobile Petting Zoo, talent shows, Water Fun Day complete with a slip n’ slide, Riding Day at the MVA Equestrian Center, a visit from America’s Got Talent Semi-Finalist Max Winfrey, and celebrated June and July birthdays with party activities.
“MVA camp provides a place for kids of all ages to take a break from technology, make new friends, build self-confidence, and learn independence no matter what camp they attend,” said Auxiliary Programs Coordinator Mrs. Jessica Randolph.
General Summer Day Camp might have hosted the largest number of campers throughout the summer, but they were accompanied by an array of other camps on campus. Camp Invention, with two camp dates this summer, had 85 campers empowering Kindergarten through sixth-grade students to collaborate, create, gain confidence and practice divergent thinking. Hands-on challenges that spark creative problem solving, build familiarity with key STEM concepts, and guide students to see that their ideas have value and their innovative efforts can change the world, was the essence of Camp Invention.
Athletic summer camps offered experiences that built skills with world-class coaches while setting a solid foundation for those new to the game. Athletic summer camps included Equestrian, Lacrosse, Soccer, Sports Performance, Softball, Basketball, Swimming, Beach Volleyball, Baseball, and Indoor Volleyball.
“Camp was also a huge success due to the hard work and dedication of the camp and program leaders,” said Mrs. Randolph.
Summer Camp 2022 will kick off in May with a selection of both new and previously offered camp experiences. Stay tuned this winter when we preview our camp offerings for summer 2022.
