SGA Holds Its First Sophomore Meeting

By Margaret Price

The sophomore SGA officers led their first class meeting on Wednesday, September 20, in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The meeting was informative and fun. The agenda included a welcome, introductions, and announcements regarding upcoming events. The officers also reminded the class that September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month.

Students watched a video of Francisco Lindor who has been nominated to receive the Roberto Clemente award. Then, the advisers were invited to the stage to play a game of Family Feud. The advisers willingly shook hands as each team raced to ring the bell and be the first to answer the questions on pop culture. However, if they did not know the answer, they could “phone a friend” or rather ask a student in their advisory. The second round included a game of cups in which students raced to be the first to grab a Solo cup when cued after following the caller at head, shoulders, knees, and toes. The prize was lollipops for the winning advisory.

The sophomore class and the advisers will be helping to support the Christmas at Montverde 2023 activities in conjunction with Lessons and Carols to be held on campus on Saturday, December 9, from 4–8 p.m.

Students interested in working with SGA on any upcoming events may join the student council. Find out more by contacting Angie Helm, the SGA sponsor, at angie.helm@montverde.org.
