Peace & Justice Institute Student Workshop
This past month has reinforced the value of “Life Skills” in a student’s education. We offered a student leadership workshop sponsored by the Peace and Justice Institute at Valencia College. Thirty-one of our student leaders attended this workshop designed to:
- identify what MVA does well in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion,
- suggest areas of improvement in relation to these goals, and
- share a vision on what a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment might look like.
As a result of the workshop, PJI reported their findings to support our goal of promoting a more inclusive environment in support of our student culture.
“We partnered with the PJI to deepen MVA’s commitment to further embedding diversity in the school’s culture in a meaningful way,” said Mr. Bernatavitz, Dean of the Upper School. “We are now bringing students into the fold to discover ways that we can further promote inclusion and equality. We want everyone in our community to be involved, from our employees to our students and in our practices and curriculum, ensuring all voices are engaged and represented in a purposeful manner. This workshop is a continuation of that work.”
