HEALTH & WELLNESS
Welcome to the Health and Wellness page.
At Montverde Academy, our highest priority is the safety and well-being of every student in our care. We take a team approach and believe that a healthy and inclusive environment ensures that students feel safe, seen, and supported.
Our Infirmary, Counselors, and Sports Medicine Team work together in collaboration with other areas of campus and families to ensure that every student knows our level of care and commitment. The purpose of this team effort is to provide our students and athletes with the best quality healthcare so they are able to maximize their athletic performance and achieve excellence in life.

Infirmary
The Montverde Academy Infirmary staff is here to support MVA students and families and to keep track of required health records that help ensure that the student body is in the best health. We help day and boarding students manage their healthcare needs while at school. Additionally, we work closely with the athletic department and counselors to support students with injuries and mental health.
Counseling
At Montverde Academy, students in all divisions have access to school counselors throughout the day. School counselors work closely with students and faculty to provide and coordinate support, helping students to be successful academically, emotionally and socially, in and out of the classroom. Our school counselors strive to make the counseling office a safe place for students and families, and also coordinate Social Emotional Learning Curriculum. If needed, School Counselors can assist with identifying and linking students and families with resources in the community.
Sports Medicine
Our athletic training staff works under the supervision of Dr. Amit Varma of Florida Sports Injury and Orthopedic Institute. Through our partnership with Orlando Health, we are able to refer our student-athletes to a wide network of specialists and experts to supplement their wellness.
Our athletic trainers serve as the liaisons between physicians, school nurses, parents, students, coaches, school counselors, and the sports performance staff to ensure each student’s plan of care is well facilitated. The athletic training staff holds facility hours in The Nest-EdgeCenter during the school day and covers athletic contests during the evening hours.
Boarding Students
Additional care is provided to our boarding students including illness management, medical appointment scheduling, and related healthcare transportation. COVID and influenza testing is administered as needed, and Academy house parents and the Dean of Students Office care for students after hours and on weekends. A registered nurse is always available for consultation after hours in cases of emergency.
The health records that are managed include physical exams, immunization records, medical releases, health insurance information, allergy information, and medical accommodations information.
