NASA Interviews Dr. Caryn Long
For five years now, Dr. Caryn Long, a Middle School Science teacher at Montverde Academy, has been using the GLOBE program with her students. The GLOBE Program is an international science and education program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process and to contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment.
“GLOBE is different from other science education programs because it educates students while also immersing them in the practical and applied nature of science,” said Dr. Caryn Long in her interview with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). “Knowing they are contributing to real scientific research with NASA scientists is a powerful motivational tool to get them to practice the skills of observation, data collection, and analysis in a real and meaningful way”.
