By Dr. Caryn Long, Director of Educational Technology and Innovation
April 8 was a busy day for Montverde Academy, which centered around all things STEM and Innovation!
Full Sail University brought their Tech Fest to Lindor Hall for students in grades 8-12 to explore emergent technologies and learn more about their program. Upper school students had an opportunity to compete for a chance to go to Full Sail at the end of the month to play in an esports tournament for a top prize of a full ride scholarship to the university upon graduation.
In the afternoon, students of all levels came to the Innovation Center to participate in engineering activities, sponsored by Mrs. Burrell, making stomp rockets, toothpick towers, and operating the VEX robots.
Dr. Long passed out solar eclipse glasses and helped to make pinhole viewers for those that didn’t receive glasses. Our large screen Newline was active with programming from NASA to view the eclipse in totality from locations in Mexico and Texas during the school day.
