MVA’s 15th Annual Night For the Cure: Uniting Our Community in the Fight Against Cancer

On Friday, the Montverde Academy community gathered for the 15th annual Night For the Cure event, joined by VIPs from prior years, GCCF, and Cornerstone Hospice. With over 26 booths representing all three divisions, the atmosphere was electric with unity and support for our community! In the Heroes Tent, over 10 families shared their inspiring stories. Our honored guest speaker Damu Cherry-Mitchell, a track & field Olympian, Vice President of Star Athletics, and MVA mom, shared her touching story about how her battle to compete in the Olympics prepared her for her battle against cancer.

Lenny Polcaro, our Night For the Cure Student Director, said, “One thing that drew me to be a part of the NFC leadership team was the event’s ability to bring the whole campus together. For everyone to be so passionate about contributing to their community and the world around them, whether or not they have a personal stake in the matter, is really amazing to me. Everyone who attended should be proud of the impact they are going to make!”

Thanks to your generosity, we’re proud to announce that over $14K is heading straight to our local community in the fight against cancer!

A big thank you to the Lower School choir for their performance of “Roar” and “I Lived”; the Middle School for hosting a grill station; the MS Leadership Club for holding a raffle with prizes such as athletic gear, art supplies, and a PS5; Mr. Thomas Narducci’s MS Speech & Debate enrichment for hosting a Family Feud game; and the Upper School’s Soaring Eagles Club for their spectacular drone show!

This night would not have been possible without the joint effort of the MVA community. Thank you to everyone who volunteered for this event and to those who attended. Your contribution will make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer.
