Montverde Academy hosted its inaugural FIRST® LEGO® Robotics competition on Saturday, January 14, welcoming 16 teams from across Central Florida. This event, sponsored by Kroger and Happy Grins Pediatric Dentistry and assisted by 87 volunteers from MVA and the community, provided an avenue for these teams to qualify for the regionals that will be held in Orlando in February.
Students from MVA took the lead to welcome these teams, play music, and provide food and cheered on the groups as they competed. Our Upper School robotics team refereed the robotic runs, and the room judges were thoroughly impressed with the presentations made by each of the competing members.
MVA’s Middle School robotics teams, #Grandma and #Grandpa, both won bids to travel to the regionals during the event as well as trophies for 1st and 2nd place in their robotics runs and 1st place in robotics design.
