Lower School K-Kids Making an Impact: Serving MVA and Beyond

By Mrs. Margaret Price, Assistant Dean of Students for Multiculturalism, Leadership, and Student Programs

Lower School K-Kids have been busy serving the MVA community, as well as helping to fill needs in the larger community.

Led by Ms. Kim Schield, a teacher in grade 4, this team of young volunteers created posters to provide directions during Diversity Fest. They also created a “Diversity and Art: We Are Home Here” collage, which was posted on the Tower for the guests to enjoy. The collage included their version of the Tower and the Lower School, along with their drawings of what makes MVA home to them. Each volunteer also signed the collage.

Last week, with the help of Ms. Kalena Meyers, MVA’s Director of Events, and Cadence Whitehouse, MVA 11th grader and Division 9B Lieutenant Governor of Florida Key Club International, the club created toiletry bags to be donated to local organizations that will distribute to homeless and families in need during a volunteer project in Lake Eola.
