Kira Lewis, a senior at Montverde Academy, recently competed in the WWA Wakeboard World Championships held in Ferreira do Zezere, Portugal.
This was the final of four stops in the Pro Wakeboard Series sponsored by Nautique Boats of Orlando, Florida. Kira won the semi-finals against a very tough international field of competitors. In the finals, however, she had a fall and finished the competition in sixth place.
While not the result she was looking for in Portugal, it was still enough to land her second overall in the 2023 Junior Pro Tour rider rankings. She was the highest placed American behind Charlie Russell of Australia and ahead of Giulia Castilli from Italy.
Kira moved from New Jersey to Florida in eighth grade and enrolled at Montverde Academy. Kira made the move to Florida so she could train full time towards her goal of becoming a professional wakeboarder. The Orlando area is known as one of the very best places in the world for wakeboarding and waterskiing due to the numerous lakes and ideal weather conditions.
