Girls Basketball Wins Chipotle High School National Championship for Third Year in a Row

The Montverde Academy girls basketball team is national champion for the third year in a row!

Jaloni Cambridge and Vivian Iwuchukwu scored a team co-high 17 points to lead the Montverde Academy girls basketball team to victory over IMG Academy 61-53 to win the 2024 Chipotle High School Nationals National Championship on Saturday morning in Brownsburg, Indiana.

The Eagles are your 2023-24 national champions.

It was a close game throughout, and the Eagles’ eight-point win was the team’s largest of the second half as MVA closed out the game on a 12-2 run to seal the championship.

Cambridge just missed a double-double with nine assists. Cambridge, Iwuchukwu and Lourdes Da Silva Costa each had six rebounds in the win. Costa also had 13 points in the win.

MVA started the game leading by as much as nine during the early stages of the second quarter. MVA led 16-9 after one, and 18-9 after the first minute of the second quarter.

IMG Academy countered and outscored the Eagles 18-9 in the second quarter, and the Ascenders had the lead at halftime, 27-25.

Both teams traded leads throughout the second half. The game saw 10 ties and six lead changes, including six ties and five lead changes in the second half.

MVA closed out the game on a 12-2 run over the final moments of the game to pull away and secure its third straight national championship.
