Congratulations to Duda Mendes and Cassidy Burris on Receiving DAR Awards

Maria “Duda” Eduarda Silva Mendes and Cassidy Burris attended an awards ceremony hosted by the Clermont Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This chapter has been located in Clermont for 71 years.

Duda, a senior prefect (pictured left), received the Good Citizen Award. “She is a brilliant and friendly person. When she comes into class, she’s constantly energetic and lifting the room’s spirit. Duda has an excellent work ethic and is a role model to her classmates. She shows great integrity both in the classroom and out of the classroom on campus,” said Coach Oshae Hicks, coach for EA Sports Gaming at MVA.

“Duda has an excellent work ethic and is a role model to her classmates. She shows great integrity both in the classroom and out of the classroom on campus,” said Ms. Marca Hoyle, an Upper School social studies teacher.

Cassidy, a junior class SGA officer (pictured right), received the Outstanding American History Award. “Cassidy is one of the most mature and composed young ladies I have had the good fortune of teaching. She is fearless and confident in her knowledge and responses, unafraid to challenge others’ notions in pursuit of the best solution to any problem,” said Mr. Jonathan Stalma, an Upper School English teacher.

“Cassidy is a very conscientious student who has an extremely strong work ethic. Her devotion to her studies and passion for learning makes her such a pleasure to have in class,” said Mr. Chris Spaulding, an Upper School social studies teacher.

Congratulations to both students on awards well deserved!
