Lower School Shines in Annual Giving Challenges, Supporting Local Families in Need

Every year, the Lower School at Montverde Academy participates in a change challenge where students are encouraged to bring in change donations throughout the week of the challenge. All proceeds are donated to the Faith Neighborhood Center, a local nonprofit that provides support for families in need across Lake County. This year, the Lower School raised a total of $3,093.43, surpassing last year’s donation by $642.69! Dr. Beth Steed’s fifth-grade class was recognized for raising the most amount money in coins with a total of $283.73. And Mr. Steve Hand’s fourth-grade class was recognized for bringing in the most amount of money overall (cash and coins) with a total of $532.02.

The Lower School also participates in an annual shoe drive where students are encouraged to donate a new pair of shoes to children in need. All shoe donations benefit the Families in Transition program with Lake County Schools. On Tuesday, December 17, during the Lower School Assembly, students filed into Roberts Gym and placed their donations at the center of the court. With all the shoes gathered in one place, students and families were able to see the profound impact they can make on the community beyond the walls of Montverde Academy.

A heartfelt thank-you to all the Lower School families who participated in these giving opportunities. Your generosity, both during the holidays and throughout the year, is essential to our shared mission of making a difference in our community.
