By Cadence Whitehouse, Division 9B Lieutenant Governor of Florida Key Club International
Division 9B of the Florida District of Key Club International held its second Divisional Council Meeting (DCM) at Montverde Academy in the newly renovated Innovation Center. During this event, Key Club officers, members, faculty advisors, and Kiwanis advisors from Montverde Academy, Lake Minneola High School, East Ridge High School, and South Lake High School came together to discuss how to plan fundraisers and service projects.
In addition to fundraising and service projects, we also discussed how to keep club members active and engaged during the school year. Sophie Plank, Montverde Academy Key Club President, said, “As my first year as president of Key Club, I am extremely excited for this opportunity and am ready for the challenge. With over 160 interested students, it should be a busy and very rewarding year for Key Club. The Key Club board is made up of eight other great students who I know will put loads of effort into helping the club run smoothly this year.”
As our DCM service project, we partnered with The Wishing Crane Project. Through our partnership with them, we made origami cranes with kind messages on them that will be given to hospitals and hospice facilities in Orlando.
My next DCM will be held September 23 with my neighboring Division, Division 9A! More information will be coming soon.
