The ESL Program
How do we best meet the needs of our students to prepare them for the rigors and challenges that lie ahead in their educational careers? This question embodies our mission statement in the ESL Program at Montverde Academy. For years we have embraced learners from all linguistic and educational backgrounds to successfully improve their English language proficiency. Our students progress to achieve success in mainstream classrooms at MVA, and continue on to some of the finest colleges and universities in the United States.
The ESL Program is comprised of three different levels suitable for Middle and Upper School students who need support in achieving English language proficiency. Classes are small, supportive and tailored to fit the individual needs of our students. We focus on the four areas of English fluency – reading, writing, speaking, and listening – using one-to-one iPad integration, a customized reading program in our Chen Family Language Lab, and multi-modal instruction in the classroom. On average, our students move out of their English as a Second Language (ESL) level after only one semester. We have developed an extremely successful program in which our students quickly master their English language skills.
