Girls Cross Country Earns Fifth Regional Championship

MVA Eagles girls cross country team earned their fifth straight Regional Championship with a total of 49 points on November 7 at Wickham Park in Melbourne, Fla.!

Lily Henne, junior, was crowned the Regional Champion, followed closely by Kendyl Cardwell in third place. Karah White placed tenth with Jayci Brauman in eleventh place to solidify the team’s victory in the Regional event.

Boys cross country runner, Colton Cardwell, also qualified for the State Championship as an individual competitor.

The girls team and Colton Cardwell will all compete at the FHSAA State Championships on Saturday, November 14 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.

“The course at Apalachee Regional Park is one of our favorites – it’s generally a mixture of fast and challenging terrain, aided by a little cooler weather,” said Lori Treweek, MVA Head Cross Country Coach. “This date is circled on our calendar each year, and we are both motivated and excited to compete amongst Florida’s best.”

“This State competition represents all the hard work we’ve put in,” said Kendyl. “Knowing this is my last cross country race with MVA makes it extra meaningful. We have two other seniors on the team, so we are excited to end our high school career on a good note. I believe we’ve all done the work needed to prepare for our race. There’s tough competition at States, but we know that we have a great chance at the podium!”

Congratulations to all the runners! Go get ‘em Eagles!
