Events to Ring in the Holiday Season

The annual Lessons & Carols performance was not hosted this year, but in its place was a virtual presentation that featured a variety of selections from the past and a new arrangement. Lessons & Carols, a staple of the MVA Christmas festivities, was patterned after the annual service at King’s College in England. This service is sure to evoke the holiday spirit – and can be viewed HERE.

Upper School students got into the festive spirit with Winterfest activities on campus. There was Chick-fil-A and a bounce house obstacle course provided by the MVA Parents’ Association, and cookie and ornament decorating to do. Students loved the live music performed by fellow student Colby Helms (’23) and the Helms Family Band. Steel drummer Ray Vaughn was so energized by the students who kept requesting just ‘one more song,’ he played quite a few encores before Mr. Brad Pagan, MVA house parent and talented musician, kicked off karaoke to conclude the night.

Now on to Exam Week. The Parents’ Association is in full swing hosting the annual Cookie Depot for students during mid-term exams from 9–11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the Student Center and on the porch of the Middle School. Students are encouraged to eat a healthy breakfast before heading to take exams, but the Cookie Depot is a great pick-me-up between exams.
