Montverde Academy offers a Music Conservatory and Theatre Conservatory to students who wish to pursue excellence in their chosen discipline.

Conservatory students meet their academic requirements during the morning and spend every afternoon with the music faculty in lessons and rehearsals. Our Conservatory is unique in the breadth and depth of major fields of study including Vocal Music, Instrumental Strings Music, and Piano.

At the heart of the Conservatory experience is an engaging and challenging academic environment where students can achieve at the highest academic levels and pursue focused studies in music and theatre arts. Beyond the classroom, students can participate in fine arts, athletics, school clubs, and service organizations while our international character adds an exciting dimension to the educational experience. As a member of the Conservatory program, students are educated, refined, and prepared for the next level in their music career with a balance of academics and fine arts.

How to Audition

All Conservatory Applicants

All students must complete and submit an admission application with supporting documents to the Admission Office in addition to a completed audition application. No student may audition until both completed applications are received. All students must demonstrate sight reading skills on their instrument and audition in appropriate attire: smart business wear for both men and women. Music may be submitted in advance, well-marked copies may be brought to the audition, or you may bring your own accompanist.

Auditions can be scheduled by completing the audition form online. All students must complete and submit an admission application with supporting documents to the Admission Office in addition to a completed audition application. No student may audition until both completed applications are received. Contact the Enrollment Management department to begin your school application.

Once both completed applications are received, your audition date and time will be scheduled.

Pianists

  • Prepare one scale
  • Two contrasting sections from classical or standard repertoire

Vocalists

  • Prepare one song of choice. Supply either a recorded accompaniment track or sheet music for live piano accompaniment at the audition. Audition music can be any style. Choose a piece that best demonstrates vocal quality, range and musicality.
  • Prepare to sight sing a short passage and repeat back short ear training exercises.

Strings

  • Two contrasting selections from the classical repertory or standard contest-type solo
  • Prepare to demonstrate sight reading skills

Please audition in smart business attire. Submit music in advance, bring well-marked copies to the audition or bring your own accompanist. Alert us in advance if a piano accompanist is needed and a 20-minute rehearsal with the accompanist before the audition will be scheduled.
