Kevin Varnado

Staff Coach – SIMA


Kevin Varnado joined the SIMA staff in August of 2014 after spending the previous two years with South Carolina United Battery Academy. Prior to that Varnado was at Francis Marion University (SC).  He served as the head coach for five seasons (2011-2007) and the assistant coach for five seasons (2002-2006). During his time FMU won two conference championships (2002, 2008) and a conference tournament title (2008). The 2008 season also included an appearance in the NCAA tournament and the regional semi-final. The 2008 and 2009 seasons also saw Varnado’s FMU team ranked among the top 25 in the country.

Prior to FMU, Varnado was the assistant coach at his alma mater St. Andrews University (NC) for one season. He has also served in several capacities within SCYSA ODP. Varnado was a three year letterman and two year captain at St. Andrews.  He twice received first team all-conference honors during his career. He holds the USSF A License.
