The Montverde Academy Robotics League took top honors at the Last Chance Battle Royale competition on Saturday, February 4 in Oviedo at Campus Catholic Ministry – UCF. The entire league is made up of five individual teams, and four of them competed in the competition.

Team Adaptoids won the Judges Award for having a great attitude and for showing exceptional teamwork and enthusiasm. Team Tech-nique won the Driving Skills competition against 20 other teams. Additionally, they won both the Teamwork and Design Awards for their collaboration as a team and their hard work in designing their robot. Team Mr. Roboto won the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Award with a perfect score! Earlier in the season, Montverde Academy faculty and staff attended a practice day for the Robotics teams in which each team was able to present their STEM presentations and receive feedback. Without the valuable advice and feedback from staff, the teams may not have done as well in their judged presentations, Robotics League director Ashley McCombes said. We are so grateful to the faculty and staff of the Academy for taking time out of their day to help the Robotics League! Team TIO (Try It Out) comprised of fifth, sixth, and seventh-grade students made a valiant effort and performed well despite only coming together as a team three days before the competition.

Although the Robotics Team is excited about the awards, the hard work doesn’t stop here. They’re now getting ready for the state competition that will take place on February 18 in Tampa.

Congratulations to the Robotics Team on their outstanding accomplishment!
