According to a recent Lake County, Florida, press release, the Orlando Kicks FC is starting its first season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), a national amateur league with more than 100 teams across the country. Sponsored by Lake County Economic Development & Tourism, the team will play its home games here at Montverde Academy. The season begins on June 4th at 7 p.m.
“South Lake County’s reputation for sports continues to grow, as evidenced by new teams such as Orlando Kicks FC deciding to make Lake County their home base,” said Adam Ashton, Lake County Economic Development & Tourism Sports Development Coordinator. “The WPSL is the largest women’s soccer league in the world, and the leading amateur soccer league in the U.S.,” stated Robbie Aristodemo in the aforementioned press release. Aristodemo is the owner of Orlando Kicks FC, and also the MVA Lady Eagles Varsity Soccer Coach.
Many former and current U.S. National and International Team players have played on WPSL teams, including two-time Olympic gold medalist Abby Wamback and Olympic gold medalist and captain of the Orlando Pride soccer team Alex Morgan.
