Flavio Augusto da Silva 1Orlando City Soccer’s Chairman and Majority Owner Flavio Augusto da Silva, a native of Jabour, Brazil, will be the Honorary Keynote Speaker of Commencement Exercises for the Montverde Academy Graduating Class of 2016. The graduation ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 1:00 PM inside MVA’s Center for Sportsmanship & Wellness (“The Nest”).

In 2015, Augusto da Silva was named the most inspirational Brazilian leader and second most inspirational world leader by Cia de Talentos, the leading career consulting firm in Latin America. He began his business career in the mid-1990’s when, with a loan of $10,000, he created what would become become Wise Up, a successful literacy program for adults. Wise Up was an official sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and currently has more than 400 schools operating in six countries.

According to Orlando City’s website , “da Silva got his start back in 1995 at age 23 teaching English to adults with a benchmark of reaching fluency in 18 months.  In 2013, da Silva’s businesses were acquired by Abril Educação, one of Latin America’s largest and most influential media companies, in one of the biggest deals in the history of the Brazilian education industry. Today, da Silva is the president of T-BDH CAPITAL which invests in new ventures focused on education and the technology industry. He is also involved in non-profit initiatives, such as Geração de Valor, which provides multi-media content to help young entrepreneurs succeed in their career or business.  Each week, Mr. da Silva’s videos, posts and articles reach more than 10 million young people in 20 different countries.”

Orlando City SC is a member of the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS) that began competing in the 2015 MLS season – the first MLS Florida franchise located in the state since 2001.
