Saturday evening, the Montverde Academy Boys’ Varsity Basketball team won their 5th consecutive Montverde Academy Invitational Basketball Tournament! The Eagles, 22-1, overpowered Wasatch Academy, from Mt. Montverde Academy defeated Miami Christian by the score of 100-46 in Thursday’s first round of the tournament. Friday night, Montverde Academy then defeated Jacksonville Florida’s Providence School 88-51 in the 2nd round.  MVA’s only loss this season came in a 83-82 defeat on December 21, 2015, against Chino Hills (California) — the nation’s top-ranked team in the USA TODAY Expert Boys’ National High School Basketball Rankings (MVA is #2) at the City of Palms Classic that was played in Fort Myers, Florida. 

With the continual high rankings (MVA is #1 in MaxPreps Computer rankings) and recent MAIT Championship, the Academy has four games remaining on its schedule – and will await an invitation to the 2016 DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals Tournament – being played March 31st – April 2nd with early round games being held at Middle Village Christ the King High School (New York) and the championship game televised nationally (live) from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
