Montverde Academy senior Harry T. Vaughn, IV, has received a nomination from US Congressman Daniel Webster, who represents the 10th District of Florida, to attend the United States Air Force Academy next fall.  Harry has applied to the USAFA and is awaiting their response.  The nomination is a required portion of the application process, but does not necessarily guarantee admission.  Harry will hear back from USAFA in March.

Throughout his matriculation at Montverde Academy, Harry has exemplified our school’s mission of being a college preparatory school that inspires students “…to become knowledgeable leaders with a global vision, instill a passion for learning, and nurture character development in a disciplined and diverse community.” Harry is President of the Honor Council, President of the Eagle Ambassadors, member of the Leadership Institute, member of the National Honor Society, member of the National Science Honor Society, and a member of National Spanish Honor Society.  He has a 4.0 GPA – and last semester Harry was was selected as a South Lake County Chamber of Commerce Student Champion.

In a recent email interview with Montverde Academy’s Communications Office, Harry stated, “I want to be a pilot in our nation’s Air Force. If all things turn out well, I will achieve this dream by attending the United States Air Force Academy.  I’ve had a great time in High School, but I am more than ready to enter the world and see what adventures await me.  I’ll miss my friends and the experiences I’ve had while attending Montverde Academy.”
