The Montverde Academy experience includes participation in enlightening academic environments that facilitate and inspire students to achieve excellence in all aspects of their lives . Outside of the classroom, MVA students develop their individual talents and abilities through involvement in fine arts, athletics, school clubs, and volunteer service organizations. The MVA Music Conservatory fine arts curriculum’s mission seeks to encourage young artists “ …to create their own art, music, and theatre” – as well as educate and prepare those students “…for the next level in their music career with a balance of academics and fine arts.”
The Montverde Academy Music Conservatory’s motto is: “Love Music, Appreciate Music, Make Music.” To help exemplify this motto, Montverde Academy’s Choir and String students, under the direction of Mr. Aubrey Connolly-Candelario, Chair of MVA Fine Arts/Director of MVA Music Conservatory, will be hosting an Independent Schools Choral and Strings Festival on Saturday, September 12th, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with a brief, FREE, and public concert presenting the material learned during the day starting at 4:00 p.m. All festival events will take place inside the Montverde Academy Media and Performing Arts Buildings, and include performances from two other Florida high-schools: Lake Minneola High School, located in Minneola, Florida, and Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, located in Melbourne, Florida.
Mr. Aubrey Connolly-Candelario organized the upcoming festival promises to be entertaining, musically enriching, and feature special guest choral clinician, Dr. David Dr. David Brunner from the University of Central Florida (UCF). Dr. Brunner and Montverde Academy music faculty will help expose students to new musical techniques, and introduce them to variety of music and styles. Although strings students will work separately from chorus students, all students participating in the festival will take part in musical clinics and classes.
