Ready to play volleyball?  Pass! Set! Serve! Attack! Block!  It’s almost time for MVA Girls Varsity Volleyball season!  The Montverde Academy Lady Eagles Varsity Volleyball team will be hosting tryouts for its upcoming season this coming Saturday, August 8th, 2015, inside the Academy’s McQuaig Gymnasium.  Lady Eagles Varsity Volleyball Head Coach Mrs. Rachel Adams, informed Montverde Communications that tryout/assessment sessions will take place from 8am – 3pm on Saturday.  *Another evaluation phase of tryouts is being organized for the following Monday (*TBD).  By Monday evening, Coach Adams and her staff will have chosen next season’s MVA Varsity, JV, and Developmental Volleyball teams for 2015.

After next week, Montverde Academy’s volleyball season officially commences next week also, with practices for all teams beginning Tuesday, August 11th – with times and locations being determined.  MVA’s Lady Eagles will participate in an area preseason tournament being held Wednesday, August 19th, and Friday, the 21st, at Foundation Academy.  The Lady Eagles Varsity Volleyball team’s first home game will be Tuesday, September 3rd vs. Foundation Academy (MVA JV game at 6pm and MVA Varsity game at 7pm) inside the Center for Sportsmanship and Wellness (“The Nest”).

“After much training in the off season, our returning varsity players are more than ready to hit the ground running towards their goal of  a deep run in the post-season. We have a perfect balance of seasoned upperclassmen paired with the hustling presence of talented underclassmen who are revved up and ready to prove themselves. With the addition of a JV team in 2015, it looks like there will be a lot of talent in each position, and hopefully that depth will create a competitive climate at practice.  It is my vision for 2015 that our girls will grasp tight to their potential, dare to dream of greatness, and chase those dreams with the tenacity that it takes to be a champion,” stated Coach Adams.

After making it to their district semi-finals under 2nd year Head Coach Mrs. Rachel Adams, and 4rd year Assistant Coach Mr. Tom Narducci, the Lady Eagles Varsity Volleyball team’s record was an impressive 20-5.  The victorious season included MVA defeating Atlantic High School in the quarterfinals (the first time in school history for a volleyball team to win a district tournament match) and took a set from historically dominant Orlando-area volleyball team Bishop Moore Catholic High School (in the semis-loss) for the first time in Montverde Academy girls volleyball school history.
