Great news to report regarding the results of Montverde Academy’s Upper-school college 2015 Advanced Placement (AP) college exams. The College Board has recognized 53 MVA students for their outstanding performance on the 2015 Advanced Placement examinations held last May!  MVA Upper-school students prepared well for the exams, and the results were very successful!  

Mr. Troy Urquhart, Dean of the Montverde Academy Upper-school, informed Montverde.org that several of our students received special distinction with their excellent scores on the spring AP exams:

  • 22 of our students were recognized as AP Scholars after receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
  • 7 of our students were recognized as AP Scholars with Honor. These students received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
  • 21 of our students were recognized as AP Scholars with Distinction. These students received an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and they received scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

 Three Montverde Academy 2014-2015 students were also recognized as National AP Scholars:

  • Skylar Knight, Valedictorian from the MVA Class of 2015, who earned scores of 4 or 5 on eight AP examinations;
  • Shuya Zhan, our Salutatorian from the MVA Class of 2015, who earned scores of 4 or 5 on ten AP examinations; and
  • Qiannan Zhu, who earned scores of 4 or 5 on ten AP examinations.

Congratulations to all of these scholars!  Overall, Montverde Academy students earned qualifying scores last May on 229 exams. More than 125 of our students earned qualifying scores on AP exams, with our qualifying percentage of 84% far exceeding both the state and global averages of 55% and 61%, respectively.

Designation Criteria
AP Scholar Grades of 3 or better on three or more AP exams.
AP Scholar with Honor Grades of 3 or better on four or more AP exams and an average of 3.25 on all AP exams taken.
AP Scholar with Distinction Grades of 3 or better on five or more AP exams and an average of 3.5 on all AP exams taken.
National AP Scholar Grades of 4 or better on eight or more AP exams and an average of 4 on all AP exams. Must be a student in the United States.
National AP Scholar (Canada) Grades of 4 or better on five or more AP exams and an average of 4 on all AP exams taken. Must be a student in Canada.
National AP Scholar (Bermuda) Grades of 4 or better on five or more AP exams and an average of 4 on all AP exams taken. Must be a student in Bermuda.
State AP Scholar Top male and female student in each U.S. state (and the District of Columbia) ranked first by the greatest number of exams with a grade 3 or higher and then by highest average on all* AP exams taken.
