It’s been a busy and productive summer of junior golf activity for many Montverde Academy/Bishop’s Gate Golf Academy students. BGGA/MVA Senior Marcos Montenegro shot a round-1 65 and round-2 69 to qualify for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship held in Bluffton, South Carolina July 20-25, and then golfed very well in the South Carolina junior golf tournament. On July 15th, MVA/BGGA senior Maria Vesga participated in the USGA Women’s Amateur Sectional Qualifying at the White Bear Yacht Club in Minnesota, after a 39 and 37 – finishing as a second alternate (T2) after a 76. MVA/BGGA junior golfers Zaffar Sikkander, a senior, Robin Williams, a freshman, and Karen Minamoto senior, competed very well in the IMG Junior World Championship that was held at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California on Tuesday, July 14 – Friday, Jul 17th.
