Congratulations to Montverde Academy rising sophomore Jaime Thompson who was nominated to attend the 2015 Congress of the Future Medical Leaders event, sponsored by The National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, being held in in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 24-26, 2015. According to an official press release, the Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians, or pursue a career in medical research fields. The purpose of this month’s event is to “…honor, inspire, motivate an direct the top students in the country who aspire to be physicians or medical scientists…” Jaime was nominated by Dr. Connie Mariano, the Medical Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists based on her academic achievement at MVA, leadership potential, and her “determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine.”

According to an official statement from Dr. Mariano, “The National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists is a unique organization founded on the belief that medicine is among the most honorable of professions and that young people need a positive message and the direction, confidence and capabilities to stay true to their dream of becoming doctors and medical scientists. The Academy was established to provide young people, their parents and their teachers with extensive information and guidance on how to become a doctor or medical scientist through our educational programs and library, mentoring tele-seminars, and a social network that will connect young people to each other as well as to medical professionals and academicians.” The Academy offers free services and programs to students who want to be physicians, or go into medical science. During her three days of participation at the event, Jaime will join students throughout the United States in hearing lectures from Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science winners, and be offered college preparation advice from Ivy League and top-level medical school deans.
