As reported by Montverde.org on Friday May 8, 2015, Montverde Academy was anonymously adjudicated by representatives from the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for MVA’s 2nd semester theatrical production of Beauty and the Beast.  MVA’s award-winning drama students will be showcased during the 2015 Applause Awards Ceremony being held on June 7th, 2015, at 6:00 PM at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. MVA’s adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, directed by Mr. Adrian Ahern, MVA Theatre Arts teacher, ran from Wednesday March 4th to Friday March 6 at 7:00 P.M (and on Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 P.M), inside the Sandra O. Stephens Fine Arts Auditorium.  The musical was presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). The music for the Disney musical of Beauty and the Beast was composed by Alan Menken. The original Beauty and the Beast script was written by Linda Woolverton, and the lyrics were authored by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.

About two dozen schools were adjudicated and MVA was nominated for a host of “2015 Applause Awards.”  Through the adjudication process, several MVA drama students were nominated for awards related to their performances in the play.
