In honor of the MVA Boys’ Varsity Basketball and MVA Boys’ Varsity Soccer teams achieving their third consecutive national championship season, Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Montverde Academy’s Headmaster, has designated Friday, May 15th, 2015, as MVA Championship t-shirt day for the entire school! Students will be permitted, as well as encouraged, to wear Eagles Championship t-shirts this Friday with their appropriate uniform bottoms.  T-shirts were distributed to MVA advisors and teachers on Monday, May 11th, and distributed to students today, Tuesday, May 12th. *As a reminder, MVA’s Middle-school will be having their previously scheduled “jeans day” on Friday.

Montverde Academy Boys’ Varsity Soccer Eagles (23-0-0 this season) finished their season ranked #1 in the United States by Top Drawer, and were also able to maintain the nation’s longest-ever high-school winter soccer winning streak (Year 1: 26-0-1, Year 2: 23-0-4, Year 3: 25-0-1, Year 4: 23-0-1) – an incredible 117 victories under fourth-year MVA Head-Coach Mike Potempa.

The 2014-2015 Montverde Academy Boys’ Varsity Basketball team (31-1) improved their record to 107-7 over the last four seasons under MVA Head-Coach Kevin Boyle. Last month, on Saturday, April 4, 2015, the Eagles defeated USA TODAY #1 ranked (and previously undefeated) Oak Hill Academy, of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia (47-1), 70-61, to win the Championship of the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Boys’ National Tournament!  The 2014-2015 Montverde Academy Boys’ Varsity Basketball team was the first high-school basketball team to win three consecutive national titles since the decade of the 1940s.

The Academy urges everyone in the MVA school community to wear their Championship t-shirts on Friday, May 15th in support of the amazing accomplishments of both the soccer and basketball teams!
