MVA’s new Upper-school classroom building construction is proceeding well, and its anticipated date of completion is this August – in time for school starting in September of 2015. The $4 million project has been financed by Montverde Academy alumni, parents and benefactor donations. The Upper-school structure’s building designer and general contractor is Aagaard-Juergensen, LLC., of Orlando, Florida, and will be approximately 36,000 square-feet. Its facade will creatively mirror that of its former, the McKenzie Building, and feature 26 classrooms, additional educational programming space, and scholastic features intended to improve student learning and access to modern technology.  As reported by Montverde.org on Monday, January 5th, 2015, “… The Academy’s newest structure will also operate as the location for MVA’s Upper-school administration offices, Upper-school computer lab, college counseling offices, and IT department. A considerably large study-hall area will also be constructed within the building to facilitate study and research environments and to allow for the George H. Rast Library to better accommodate student seating.”

Over the last school year, MVA’s Upper-school population of over 700 students have attended classes in the Learning Village cottages.  On Thursday, January 15, 2015, Montverde Academy held its new Upper-school classroom building groundbreaking ceremony on the grounds located adjacent to MVA’s Learning Village A supportive audience attended the groundbreaking: MVA students, staff, and the faculty, joined with members and patronage of the MVA community, school trustees, and elected regional officials for the organized school observance.
