Montverde Academy Girls Varsity Softball team Co-Head Coaches Mr. Lonnie Richardson, and Ms. Kelly Golden are extremely pleased with the MVA Lady Eagles 13-3 “3-PEAT” championship victory yesterday over Bishop Moore Catholic High-school Hornets! After a lightening delay that lasted an hour, the Lady Eagles began defending their district crown by exercising solid softball fundamentals as a team – including pitching, hitting, and fielding – throughout the entire rain-drenched game.

MVA defeated the Hornets in 5 innings to win the championship, but Bishop Moore started out strong with a lead-off double. Our Lady Eagles were able to quickly halt their surge with a strikeout and pop fly. Montverde Academy then scored one run in the first with a single by Rachel Yurchick scoring Heather Franson who slid under the tag at home plate. The Lady Eagles then scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning, 4 runs in the 3rd and 1 run in the 4th inning to win by a 10 run rule. Montverde standouts were Hannah Crumblish: 3-3 with a double and triple, Natalia Rodriguez: 2-3 with a home run, Victoria Atkinson: 2-3 with a double, Kendall Funk: 2-3, Leah Henigan: 2-3. Both teams will advance to Regional play. The Lady Eagles will host the 4A District 8 runner-up on Thursday, April 23rd at 7:00 PM.

MVA’s Lady Eagles team’s overall 2015 record is currently at 15-7, and 7-0 in their Florida 4A District competition. The Lady Eagles are also ranked in the top 70 girls softball teams in the state of Florida. Up-to-date MVA Lady Eagles game statistics can be found HERE.
