Bermuda National Swimming Association’s 2015 team announced the MVA varsity swimmer Peter Kiernan, a MVA sophomore, will be representing his country, Bermuda, in the Carifta Swimming Championships in April 4th-7th. Seventeen members will represent Bermuda at the 2015 Carifta Swimming Championships being held in the Caribbean island country of Barbados. Peter is progressing as a high school swimmer. His current Florida rank is 78th (per, and he is ranked 948th nationally. Peter has swam successfully in several competitive events over the last year which include:

Along with MVA’s Kiernan, the Bermuda team consists of eight veterans with at least three years of swimming experience, and six members (including Kiernan) making their debut on the select team.  Mr. Arilson Champam, MVA Swimming Team’s Head Coach, was delighted to hear of Peter’s selection, and shared with, “I was hired as Aquatics Center Director / Head Swim Coach in order to develop the sport of swimming at Montverde Academy, with the expectation of providing all students the means of  participating in swimming classes and the opportunity to join the varsity swim team.  In the short time we already had a swimmer participating in an international level championship (Peter) – and it is very important to our MVA varsity swim team that one of our own represented in CARIFTA Swimming Championships… Peter has great potential…I have complete confidence and trust that Peter, and MVA swimming, will continue to grow and evolve.”
