This past weekend (March 7-8, 2015), twelve students from Bishops Gate Golf Academy competed in the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) junior golf tournament hosted at Saddlebrook Resort, located in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Five of the BGGA studnets participating in the event finished in the top ten, and three finished in the top three of their respective divisions. Ben Hicks, Marketing Manager for Bishops Gate Golf Academy, informed Montverde Academy, “…in the Boys 15-19 Division, Marcus Montenegro, (a MVA/BGGA junior) of Buenos Aires, Argentina, finished second thanks to a strong performance in the second round. His one-under-par 69 was the lowest score of the day and included ten par-or better holes, including four birdies. Montenegro improved in every aspect during round two from raising his total number of pars to lowering his total number of bogeys.” In the Boys 12-14 Division, Robin Williams, a MVA/BGGA 8th grade student, a native of Peterborough, United Kingdom, finished in 3rd place, and carded two birdies “…and shaved four strokes off his score,” added Hicks. In the Girls Division, MVA/BGGA senior Mami Yamamoto, a native of Tokyo, Japan, finished third.” Taking three strokes off her round on the second day, Yamamoto improved her performance the most on the back nine. She carded eight straight par-or-better holes including a birdie on the back nine. Meanwhile Marisa Hisaki of Osaka, Japan finished 19th in the division. Her score featured back-to-back birdies on holes Nos. 6 & 7,” stated Mr. Hicks.
