Montverde Academy’s Ben Simmons, a 6’9 senior center/strong forward standout member of the 2015 Eagles Boys’ Varsity Basketball team, was recently selected to take part in the 2015 Jordan Brand Classic All-Star Game Classic being played  Friday, April 17th, 2015, at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York. This is the 14th year of the Jordan Brand Classic, a game that will be televised LIVE on ESPN2.  Simmons will be a featured player on the “East” team. The 2015 Jordan Brand Classic will be played at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois (for the fifth consecutive year).  This morning, Tuesday, March 10th, 2015, the McDonald’s All American Games and former DeMatha High School (Hyattsville, Maryland), and High-School Hall-of-Fame Basketball Head Coach Morgan Wootten (2015 MAAG Selection Committee Chairman) named Ben Simmons the 2015 Morgan Wootten Male Player of the Year. In January, Simmons was selected to play in the 38th Annual 2015 McDonald’s All American Game.  At the beginning of Montverde Academy’s Upper-School Assembly, held Wednesday, February 25, 2015, Simmons was honored for being selected as finalist to participate in the highly respected annual high-school basketball classic. The game will be played at the Gerald Ratner Athletic Center (University of Chicago) on Monday, March 30th, at 7 p.m. CT and televised LIVE on ESPN2. Simmons, an 18 year-old native of Melbourne, Australia, is also an incoming Louisiana State University fall 2015 basketball recruit. He was a boarding student at Montverde Academy for two years, and he is now a day-student living with his family (who moved from Australia) in nearby Windermere, Florida.  Simmons has played on the Montverde Academy Boys’ Varsity Basketball team for the last three seasons, and is ranked the #1 overall ESPN 100 high-school basketball player in the nation. 

With respect to the forthcoming Jordan Brand Classic, wrote “… Kentucky has the most recruits in the Florida State and LSU have two each. Arizona, Duke, Illinois, Marquette, Memphis, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse, Texas, Texas A&M and Villanova are represented. Seven players in the game are undecided.” The 2015  Jordan Brand Classic rosters are as follows:
