Over the weekend of February 21-22, 2015, nine students from Bishop’s Gate Golf Academy competed in the Future Collegians World Tour event held at Timacuan Golf and Country Club in Lake Mary, Florida. After a 2-hole playoff, Montverde Academy student Carlos Marrero, a native of Valencia, Venezuela, and BGGA student Julian Perico of Lima, Peru, received a second-place finish from the Boys 15-19 Division. Ben Hicks, Marketing Manager for Bishops Gate Golf Academy, informed Montverde Academy Communications Department that both BGGA students performed well – especially by tying for second place in the tournament. “After one round, Périco lead the field with an even-par finish following a strong performance on the front nine including an eight hole par-or-better streak. On day two, he completed the event with four straight par-or-better holes including making birdie on hole No. 18 to secure his spot in the playoff. Marrero, who was four-over-par after round one, shaved five strokes off his game in the second round. Propelled by his stunning back nine, including four birdies, Marrero tied for the low-round score on day two with a 1-under-par finish,” Hicks informed Montverde.org.
