Montverde Academy will present their adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast from Wednesday March 4th to Friday March 6 at 7:00 P.M., and on Saturday, March 7th at 2:00 P.M., inside the Sandra O. Stephens Fine Arts Auditorium. General Admission is $10:00. The MVA performances of Beauty and the Beast are presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). The music for the Disney musical was composed by Alan Menken. The Beauty and the Beast script was written by Linda Woolverton, and the lyrics were authored by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. Initially, the musical was produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (then by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures), and originally directed by Robert Jess Roth. Beauty and the Beast is an American animated film that, according to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, belongs to the genre of a “musical romantic fantasy film… Based on the traditional French fairy tale of the same name by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont, Beauty and the Beast is the 30th film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series.Beauty and the Beast focuses on the relationship between the Beast (Benson), a prince who is magically transformed into a monster as punishment for his arrogance, and Belle), a young woman who he imprisons in his castle. Beauty and the Beast premiered at the New York Film Festival on September 29, 1991, followed by a theatrical release on November 22 to critical acclaim. The film was a box office success, and has since garnered over $424 million worldwide. Beauty and the Beast was nominated for several awards, winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Famously, Beauty and the Beast became the first animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.”

Montverde Academy’s Beauty and the Beast Cast and Crew Biographies:

Aidan Fracker as Footstool:
Aidan is currently in his 6th grade year and was last seen in Disney’s Peter Pan Jr. as Peter Pan with Not Just Dance. Other roles include the Shoemaker’s Elf in Shrek the Musical, Bagheera in The Jungle Book Jr., Benjamin in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sir Hector in Joust!, and the Nutcracker in Nutcracker, The Musical. He has also been in several ensembles such as Fiddler on the Roof and Oliver! both at Mount Dora’s Icehouse Theatre. Aidan thanks all of the directors and theatre groups he has performed with for giving him a new experience every time he steps on the stage.

Aiden Bjortvedt as Chip:
Aiden is currently in his 6th grade year in the MVA Middle-school. Other shows he has been seen in was as Jack in Into The Woods at the Garden Theater, Oliver in Oliver! at the Garden Theater, Nick in Fame at the Garden Theater, Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid at Garden Theater, and Young Shrek in Shrek the Musical at MVA. He wants to thank his family and friends for everything they do.

Alex Williams as Technician:
Alex is currently in her junior year at Montverde Academy and has attended the school since she was in third grade. She has been working with Mr. Ahern since she was in sixth grade on as many plays as she could. Her most previous job was co-stage manager with Cassie Rathie on You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Alex has many interests within the fine arts department and hopes she can further her talents when college comes around. Alex wants to thank everyone who has always supported her!

Alexander LaPlante as Lumiere:
Alexander has been at Montverde Academy for 12 years and is ecstatic to be a part of the Beauty and the Beast performance, his 10th show at this school. He say that without the support of his parents, teachers, and friends, he has been able to accomplish what he wants to do up to this point.

Alexis Terry as Claudia the Silly Girl:
Alexis is currently a sophomore at Montverde Academy and is very excited to be a part of Beauty and the Beast. She has also been in Shrek, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown here at Montverde Academy. She thanks all her family and friends for being so positive and supportive!

Alia Destiny Rodriguez as Villager:
Alia is a sixth grade student at MVA. Alia loves to act, dance, sing, and play the piano. Her first theatre production was Shrek The Musical as Baby Fiona, Chicken Little, and a Grassland. She is grateful for her parents endless support and Mr. Connelly’s encouragement. She is also eternally grateful to Ms. Cunningham and Mrs. Holton for allowing her to find her love for the “performing arts.” Lastly, she is grateful for Mr. Ahern who has given her the opportunity to become part of this wonderful production.

Andrea Barrows as Villager:
Andrea is currently in her seventh grade year and was last in a play called School House Rock in 5th Grade as a soloist and other varied extra parts. She is currently a member of NJHS, her lacrosse team, the Stinghers, and Debate Club.

Carlyn Rosario as Madame de le Grande Bouche:
After 12 years at MVA and 4 years of dedication to the Upper School Theatre Department, senior Carlyn Rosario will be making her final appearance on the main stage. Some of her previous roles included Miss Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical the Musical and Cinderella in Into the Woods. Carlyn would like to thank everyone who has supported her fine arts career and looks forward to a promising future on the stage in college and beyond.

Cody DeJarnett as Villager:
Cody has been attending MVA for two years now. He thoroughly enjoys theatre and pillaging around being a villager in this wondrous production, Beauty and the Beast. Cody plays baseball and is literally the best athlete in his immediate family, excluding his elder brother Chase.

Courtney Scott as Sausage lady, Tavern Patron, Napkin, and Villager:
Courtney is playing a villager and featured dancer in the show. She is currently in the eighth grade. Courtney is the president of the middle school as well as being involved in after school programs such as National Junior Honors Society, Builders Club, and Junior International Thespian Society. Courtney is really enjoying working with Mr. Ahern and would like to thank him for all that he does. She would also like to thank her parents for always being there for her.

Crystal Thompson as Cogsworth:
Crystal is currently in her first year of high school, and has more or less emerged herself into the performing arts after being inspired by her past two roles, such as Shere Khan in the Jungle Book and Louella in Bugsy Malone. Although she aspires to be a world-class novelist, she hopes to be noticed for her acting. She would like to thank her family and friends, especially her mom, for all the support they have shown her.

Darian Negron as Technician:
Darian is currently a freshman in Montverde Academy. This is his first year at this school, and his second time assisting as a tech in the play. He is currently enrolled in the ITS as well as PHS programs. He would like to thank his family and friends for keeping him happy as well as helping him when he needed it.

Emma Crider as Villager, Napkin, Tavern Patron, and Milkmaid:
Emma is an eighth grader, and was last seen in Thoroughly Modern Millie as a dancer. Emma has performed in other roles, as a fairy godmother in Shrek, dancer in Fame, evil stepmother in Into the Woods, and a Who in Seussical. Emma is a member of Nation Junior Honor Society, Builder’s Club, and Student Government. Emma would like to thank her parents for giving her the opportunity to participate, her director and coaches for guiding her, and her sister for sharing this memory with her.

Gabriel Sementari as Baker and Flatware:
Gabriel is a freshman at Montverde Academy pursuing his dreams by engaging in theater. He is really talented and all rounded in the arts. Beauty and the Beast is his first show and he hopes to continue more shows till he graduates. He would like to thank his friends and most of all his wonderful loving family.

Harley Ganna as Salt:
Harley is now in her sophomore year at Montverde Academy.  She was last seen as part of the ensemble in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She has also featured in Annie as Molly and in A Christmas Carol as Fred’s Wife. She would like to thank all of her friends and Mr. Ahern for encouraging her to audition and for all the support she’s had from them.

Hugo Hollander as Magic Carpet:
Hugo is currently a 7th grader at MVA and was last seen in School House Rock. Other roles include one of the three kings in a recent Christmas production at MVA. He is currently the team champ on the demo team and also a member of debate club. He would like to thank her parents and friends for always supporting him in the decisions he makes!

Imani Doyle as Belle:
Imani is currently a junior at Montverde Academy. She enjoys listening to music and eating whenever it’s acceptable. She openly supports feminism and Nick Jonas. She encourages all to truly receive the message of Beauty and the Beast and love themselves always even when society tells them differently. Imani thanks all who’ve encouraged her to be herself. “And in conclusion may I please remind you it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.” – Clueless, 1995

Bella Crider as a Napkin, Tavern Patron, Fisherman:
Bella is very proud to be in her first main stage production at Montverde Academy. Bella is in the sixth grade at Montverde Academy and has starred in several roles at the school such as Maleficent and King Louie. Bella has also starred in roles at the Garden theater such as Miss Sherman in Fame and a dancer in Into the Woods. Bella is on the Middle-school soccer team and a member of SGA. Bella would like to thank her piano, vocal, and dance teachers as well as her supportive family and friends.

Izzy Moye as Aristocrat and Villager:
Izzy is SGA VP, Builders Club board member, FCA officer, and eighth grader. She was a who in Suessical, a rabbit in Shrek, Ethel Peas in Thoroughly Modern Mille, and is now the Aristocratic Lady in Beauty and the Beast. Izzy would like to thank her mom, nana, papa, and two sisters for always being her biggest supporters. She would also like to thank her best friends for always sticking with her through good and bad. Izzy hopes to pursue her dream of being a singer one day. Izzy would also like to attend FSU for veterinary practice.

Jeremy Assifo as Beast:
Jeremy is currently in his senior year and was last seen in High School Musical as Coach Bolton. Jeremy is the starting middle linebacker of the Montverde Academy Football team, he holds a 3.4 GPA, is a member of ITS and FCA, and would like to study Business Management in University. Jeremy has taken a four year hiatus from performing but is very excited to return to the stage. He would like to thank his parents and God.

John Holton as Lefou:
John is currently in his senior year and was last seen in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown as Charlie Brown. His other roles include George Gershwin in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Ron in Cheating Death. His other interests besides theatre include music, playing the piano, reading, studying history, researching family history, watching movies, and making himself and other people laugh. He would like to thank everybody who supports him in everything that he does.

Leah DeLisle as Cheese Grater and Laura  the Silly Girl:
Leah is a sophomore this year at Montverde Academy. She is very happy to have a role in this play. She acted in Montverde Academy’s production of Shrek the Musical as the cowardly lion. She has been a tech for the last two plays at Montverde Academy, and also been a tech for The Orlando REP’s production of Crazy for You. She hopes to be in more plays at Montverde Academy and other places.

Matt Parks as Villager, Tavern Patron, and Candle Seller:
Matt is an eighth grade boy who has just began theatre. He loves movies and hopes to become a screen writer in years to come. He has loved every show that Mr. Ahern has directed, and hopes to return to theatre.

Maya Mills as a Plate:
Maya is currently in seventh grade. She played the stick pig in Shrek the Musical. She would like to thank her parents and her friends for supporting her with everything.

Mckenzie Kauffman as a Plate:
Mckenzie is a seventh grader at MVA this year and is performing in her first high school play, Beauty and the Beast. She is involved in builders club, and participates in extracurricular dance classes. She takes private voice lessons. She has also attended several Orlando Reparatory. She would to thank her family for supporting her theatrical pursuits.

Peytann Tamasi as a Plate:
Peytann is currently in seventh grade. Previously she was in many lower school productions. She was last The Straw Pig in Shrek The Musical. Peytann would like to continue participating in the Productions at MVA. She would like to thank her mom for supporting her in everything she does.

Rahel Hirsch as Egg Man and Villager:
Rahel is currently in her junior here at Montverde Academy, this is her second year here. Rahel was seen in Shrek as Humty Dumbty. Rahel is part of ITS, key club and yearbook club. She wants to thank her parents for sending her to MVA and allowing her to have such a great experience.

Shanna Zhan as Villager:
Shanna is a senior and has never been in any theater production before. Joining theater production is one item on her senior wish list. She just wanted to try something she had never done before in her last year of high school. She is the president of math honor society and VP of Chinese club.

Summer Himmelberger as Wire Whisk:
Summer is a Junior here at Montverde Academy, and was last seen in Thoroughly Modern Millie as Ruth. In the past she portrayed Marty in Grease at Grandview Preparatory School and Alice in Alice in Wonderland at the Delray Beach Playhouse. She has had the opportunity to appear in a national ad for Campaign for Justice, and worked on Telemundo’s La Voz Kids. She thanks her parents for always pushing her to do her best, and thanks you for supporting the academy’s theatre department.

Sydney Adkins as Paula the Silly Girl:
Sydney is in her senior year of high school. This is her first time in a Montverde Academy school production. She is currently a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. She has been at the Academy for 12 years now. She would like to thank her family and friends for always supporting her.

Varina Zhang as Beggar Woman/Enchantress and Pepper:
Varina  is currently in the eighth grade. This is her first time being in the play and her role is a beggar and an enchanted object, pepper. She is really enjoying working with Mr. Ahern and everyone else in the show. Varina is the treasurer of the middle-school Student Government Association. She is also in builders club and practices tennis. She would like to thank her parents for supporting her as well as her close friends.

Jake Labrador as Gaston:
Jake, a Senior, is honored to have been cast as Gaston in Beauty and Gaston! Sorry, Beauty and the Beast.  Oops.  He has played Shrek in Shrek the Musical, Brother Levi in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, he was also in the ensemble of Thoroughly Modern Millie.  He is currently a member of the International Thespian Society.  Jake’s love of theatre began when he played Jerome alongside his grandfather who was Emile de Becque in South Pacific.  Jake would like to thank his family for always supporting him in theater.  He would also like to thank Mr. Ahern for being such an incredible director, and teacher.  With this being Jake’s last show here at Montverde Academy he would like to thank all of the people who have helped him to get where he is now.
