MVA Softball 2013-14 Hannah FutoMontverde Academy junior Hannah Futo, a member (short-stop/3rd base/catcher) of the 2015 MVA Lady Eagles Softball team, committed to play college softball at NCAA Division 1 Fairfield University. Hannah has played softball for over ten years. For the last few years, she has served in many important roles linked to the in the success of the past MVA Lady Eagles seasons (Lady Eagles were 21-5 after a great 2014 season that ended after they experienced a tough defeat against Florida Top-50 ranked Cocoa Beach High School of Cocoa Beach, Florida, in of the Florida District 7-1 A regional semi-final game The 2013 Lady Eagles Varsity Softball team record was 22-7. The team went as far as competing in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) tournament’s Class 3A state semifinals. Five MVA Lady Eagles players were also named to the 2014 4A All District team.

In an email written to various MVA staff and faculty, Futo thanked Montverde Academy academics and athletics “…for providing an environment that has her continue to work hard and achieve my goals both in the classroom and on the field.” Fairfield University in located in Fairfield, Connecticut. The Fairfield Stags are members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. “With the help and unconditional love and support from my family, my friends, and coaches, I have fulfilled my dream! I am proud to say that I have verbally committed to continuing my education and softball career at Fairfield University. All my life, playing softball at the next level has been my dream. Over the years I have played on many travel ball teams and I have been fortunate to play with many good players. I have learned from every experience, good and bad. I have worked hard day in and day out to achieve my goal. I had an exceptional summer and fall travel ball season this past year. The highlight of my summer was being selected to play in the Future’s Gold 19U showcase at the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship tournament last July. I look forward to staying focused and working hard and to starting the next chapter of my life in the fall of 2016,” added Futo.
